USAT Liberty Wreck in Tulamben: The Complete Dive Guide
History, depth, marine life and the best time to dive Bali’s most famous wreck.

Bali is one of the best places in the world to learn to dive — and Amed, on the island’s quiet north-east coast, is one of the best places in Bali to do it. Warm water, calm bays and reefs that start right from the beach make the first steps easy and relaxed.
If you just want to try, start with a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience. In a few hours you learn the basics with an instructor and make a shallow dive on the reef — no certification needed. Children from 8 can try PADI Bubblemaker in very shallow water.
The Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular dive certification. When you finish, you are certified for life to dive to 18 metres with a buddy, anywhere in the world.
The course usually takes about 3 days. Short on time? The PADI Scuba Diver course is the first half of Open Water and lets you dive to 12 m with a professional — you can finish the rest later.
Many of our students continue with the Advanced Open Water course (5 adventure dives, certified to 30 m), then Rescue Diver and even Divemaster. If you love being underwater without a tank, try a freediving course.
We are a PADI 5-Star Dive Center & Resort in the heart of Amed. Our instructors teach in small groups and in many languages. See all PADI courses, or combine your course with a stay in our garden bungalows through a Stay & Dive package.
Whether you have questions about our diving lessons, bungalows, or packages, our team is ready to assist.
